Health Reform Insider to Speak at Roswell Park Comprehensive Cancer Center

BUFFALO – Leonard A. Zwelling, MD, MBA, a nationally recognized expert on health policy, will present the Third Annual Dr. David C. Hohn Lecture, “Red Kool-Aid, Blue Kool-Aid: A Doctor’s Odyssey on Capitol Hill,” Wednesday, April 7, 8- 9:30 a.m. at Roswell Park Comprehensive Cancer Center.

Dr. Zwelling was a Robert Wood Johnson Foundation Health Policy Fellow with the Health, Education, Labor and Pensions Committee of the US Senate throughout 2009. He worked on many aspects of the recently passed Health Reform Bill interacting with constituents, lobbyists and national experts on health reform. Dr. Zwelling shares a unique insider’s perspective of the health care reform battle.

Dr. Zwelling received his MD from Duke University and his MBA from the University of Houston. He began his career at the NIH as a Clinical Associate in the Clinical Oncology Program and subsequently joined the Division of Medicine at the MD Anderson Cancer Center where he has served in numerous capacities, most recently as Associate Vice President for Clinical and Translation Research and Vice President for Research Administration. He was introduced to his roles in administration and leadership at MD Anderson by Dr. Hohn in the 1990s. He is a member of the American Society for Clinical Investigation and a Fellow of the American College of Physicians.

The Hohn Lecture Series, established through a grant from the Roswell Park Alliance Foundation, features distinguished speakers in the field of health policy. The lecture was established in honor of David. C. Hohn, MD, Roswell Park President Emeritus and Executive Director of Health Policy.

The lecture will take place in the David C. Hohn, MD, Lecture Hall, Research Studies Center, Roswell Park Comprehensive Cancer Center.
