Precepting, lectures, continuing education and more
In addition to involvement in direct patient care activities, Pharmacy residents have a variety of opportunities to engage in teaching and precepting. You'll serve as a preceptor to fourth year advanced practice pharmacy students and provide educational programs to medical fellows, nurses, pharmacists, and other healthcare professionals.
You’ll give at least one didactic lecture and active learning experience at University of Buffalo (UB) School of Pharmacy and Pharmaceutical Sciences. UB also offers teaching opportunities through an elective oncology class in the fall and the Oncology Therapeutics Sequence in the spring. Roswell Park residents are also encouraged to participate in a teaching certificate program offered through UB.
To expand your own experience in teaching and research, you’ll attend lectures at UB alongside residents and fellows from other programs across the region.
Continuing education
You’ll complete at least two Continuing Education lectures as part of the education requirement. These in-person, on-site courses are accredited by the Accreditation Council for Pharmacy Education (ACPE). Residents are responsible for the development of the CE lecture from the learning experience through presentation.
Roswell Park’s Human Resources team coordinates other on-site professional development classes, including career enhancement, teamwork, diversity, workplace safety, and leadership.
