Meet the PI: Anna Woloszynska, PhD

It was in high school when I first learned about Lamarck’s theory of evolution, contrasted with Darwinian theory. At the time, Darwin seemed like the more insightful and sophisticated thinker, but even then, I sensed there was more to Lamarck’s ideas than just the giraffe neck example. Lamarck was, in many ways, the first epigeneticist, and he inspired me even then.

Years later, when I discovered the field of epigenetics, I absolutely fell in love with this area of biology. Holistic thinking about biological concepts and the dynamic interactions between genes and the environment has since become my scientific obsession.
