Ovarian cancer therapy and groundbreaking discovery tools
Inside the Stablewski Lab, our research focuses primarily on ovarian cancer. Our key areas of study include:
- Differentially expressed genes in chemoresistant vs. indolent ovarian cancer
- Targeting T regulatory cells in cancer and other disease
- Using antibody drug conjugates against targets in ovarian and other epithelial cancers
We study and parse out the function of differentially expressed genes to create new mouse and cell line models. Our goal is to address genetic alterations found in patients and identify fundamental discovery tools for basic science.
In addition, the team is working with collaborators in academic and industry for preclinical work using antibody drug conjugates against ovarian and other epithelial cancers.
Gene Targeting & Transgenic Shared Resource (GeTT)
Dr. Stablewski has been at the forefront of transgenic technologies for over 25 years. She played a key role in developing the first transgenic facility at Roswell Park in 1999 and now serves as Director of the exceptionally rated Gene Targeting & Transgenic (GeTT) shared resource.
This facility has provided more than 2,000 new genetically modified lines in support of Roswell Park’s research programs in Cancer Stress Biology (CSB), Developmental Therapeutics (DT), and Tumor Immunology and Immunotherapy (TII).
Under Dr. Stablewski’s direction, GeTT staff generate models on multiple strain backgrounds, using traditional methods such as transgenics and embryonic stem cell technology and also by newer methods such as CRISPR/Cas9 technology.
Stem cell research breakthrough
As director of Roswell Park’s Gene Targeting & Transgenic (GeTT) shared resource, Dr. Stablewski played a key role in groundbreaking studies that have resulted in significantly more accurate models of cancer and other diseases.
