Roswell Park Comprehensive Cancer Center President & CEO Candace Johnson, PhD, has been named to City & State’s Health Power 100 list. Dr. Johnson, the only Western New Yorker named to the top 50, was ranked by the media organization at 44th among medical professionals, policymakers and influencers who are leading New York State forward despite a year of unprecedented challenges.

A Roswell Park Comprehensive Cancer Center team led by Christine Ambrosone, PhD, and Song Yao, PhD, has revealed a distinct molecular signature in the tumor tissues of Black patients with breast cancer — a finding that opens the door to treatment interventions that could help to eliminate disparities in survival between Black and white patients with breast cancer.

In a study published today in the journal Science Advances, a team led by Lei Wei, PhD, Barbara Foster, PhD, Wendy Huss, PhD, and Gyorgy Paragh, MD, PhD, details a method to measure the abundance of cancer-related early changes to skin tissue long before damage becomes visible. 

As New York State continues its phased distribution of COVID-19 vaccines for frontline healthcare professionals, Roswell Park Comprehensive Cancer Center has started the process of immunizing Emergency Medical Services (EMS) workers. Vaccinations began Thursday morning.

As the year winds to a close, the Roswell Park Comprehensive Cancer Center medical team celebrates another honor with the publication of Buffalo Spree magazine’s Top Doctors list for 2019. Eighty different Roswell Park physicians across 30 different specialties were elected to this list, which is compiled through a peer survey of Western New York physicians.
