BUFFALO, N.Y. — Registration opened last week for the 2026 IceCycle Buffalo, Western New York’s coolest fundraiser. The sixth annual event, presented by Highmark Blue Cross Blue Shield and West Herr, will be held on Friday, March 6 and Saturday, March 7. We are proud to partner with six incredible local studios for another impactful weekend. See the full schedule here. Participants have nine 45-minute sessions to choose from, including three theme rides:

  • Returning: In Our Swiftie Era
  • New: Glow Ride ft. Kodat’s MawshFit Experience
  • New: Patient & Survivor Hope Ride

“Year after year, we’ve been amazed by the number of people who come out to support and participate in this event,” said Bill Loecher, IceCycle Founder. “Where else will you find more than 1,000 people willing to cycle on the ice in the middle of winter to raise funds for cancer research and patient care programs? Only Buffalo. We’re proud to come back stronger than ever for our sixth year.”

We anticipate more than 1,400 participants will sign up for the 2026 event, but IceCycle isn’t just about the exercise. There are several moments throughout the weekend that remind us of the reason we all come together: to end cancer. For example, patients and survivors are encouraged to ring the Victory Bell on the ice to celebrate milestones in their cancer journeys.

There is a $200 fundraising minimum for one session and a $400 fundraising minimum for two sessions. Fundraisers who reach more than $1,500 are considered IceBreakers, and the top fundraiser for each session will be recognized during their session, with an opportunity to ride on a special white bike. The IceCycle team offers several tools to help riders meet and exceed their goals.

“Fundraising is a key part of what makes this event so special,” said Mackenzie Giancarlo, IceCycle Director at the Roswell Park Alliance Foundation. “Our participants are truly making a difference for the cancer patients of today and tomorrow. IceCycle is a great example of the impact we can have when we all work together for a common goal.”

Community members and participants are also invited to take part in Fitness Off the Ice, which is a series of 30-minute exercise classes that will be held inside Buffalo RiverWorks during the event for $20 per class.

Since 2021, IceCycle has raised more than $2.6 million for critical cancer research and patient care programs at Roswell Park Comprehensive Cancer Center.

Several sessions fill up quickly, and one has already sold out. We encourage those who are interested to register ASAP.

Mackenzie Giancarlo has availability for interviews today between 1:30 p.m. and 3:30 p.m. Please contact Jackie at (716) 480-1311 to set up an interview. Text is preferred.
