New Roswell Park Nursing Executives to Encourage Continued Education, Training

BUFFALO, N.Y. — Nurses, physician assistants and nurse practitioners are an integral piece of Roswell Park Comprehensive Cancer Center’s mission. Day in and day out, they are central to the multidisciplinary and integrative approach that drives the care of each and every Roswell Park patient. Drs. Andrew Storer and Karen Sharrah have been newly appointed to critical leadership roles that will guide further growth for this team of dedicated professionals.

Leading the Advanced Practice Services team is Executive Director Karen Sharrah, DNP, APRN, FNP-C. Dr. Sharrah will work to recruit and promote the development of Roswell Park’s advanced practice providers (APPs), who include physician assistants, nurse practitioners and advanced practice registered nurses. Building on her experience in oncology, palliative care and survivorship, she will supervise the APP team, enhance recruitment, training and development and collaborate with other clinical leaders to ensure outstanding patient care. Dr. Sharrah was previously Director of Advanced Practice at City of Hope National Medical Center in California. She earned her doctorate from George Washington University.

Andrew Storer, PhD, DNP, FNP-C, ACNP-BC, FAANP, joins the center as Executive Director of Nursing Education for a Roswell Park Nursing team of more than 600 dedicated staff members. Dr. Storer will promote evidence-based practice through education, encourage nursing staff to participate in research, and facilitate studies. He was previously Director of Acute Care and Family Nurse Practitioner Programs at Elms College in Massachusetts. He holds his PhD from the University at Hawaii at Manoa and a doctor of nursing practice degree from Jefferson College.
