Oseroff Memorial Purchase Prize to award local photographer with purchase of work and donation to RPCI’s permanent collection
BUFFALO, N.Y. – Local photographers are encouraged to submit photographic works of art for consideration in the Oseroff Memorial Photography Purchase Prize. The winning work of art will be purchased and donated to Roswell Park Comprehensive Cancer Center’s (Roswell Park) permanent art collection.
CEPA Gallery will select the winner from an open call for submissions by photographers residing within 100 miles of Buffalo, or those living outside the area who have strong ties to the region.
The Oseroff Memorial Purchase Prize was founded in honor of Dr. Allan R. Oseroff, Chief of Dermatology from 1989 until his death in 2008 at Roswell Park.
“Dr. Oseroff was a world-renowned expert in photodynamic therapy and had a life-long interest in photography and the visual arts,” said Dr. Stephanie Pincus, Dr. Oseroff’s late wife. “He was an empathetic physician who blended true caring with the latest scientific advances to become greatly loved by his patients and fellow staff. “
The Oseroff Memorial Photography Purchase Prize is supported by an endowment from Dr. Pincus, patients, friends and his children Ben, Tamara and Matt. The prize is designed to enhance the environment for all members of the Roswell Community.
To be eligible for the Oseroff Memorial Purchase Prize, artists are asked to submit up to three photographic works of art, along with image information, an artist resume, and a biography via email to email@example.com with Oseroff Memorial Purchase Prize in the subject line. Images should be in jpeg format and be no larger than 1MB each. Please label each image with artist’s last name and number them 1 – 3. (For example: lastname1.jpg) For each submitted image please include: Title of work, date produced, medium, size and retail price.
The deadline for submissions is July 1, 2013 at 5:00 PM. Submissions will be juried in two rounds. Shortlisted work will be publicized on CEPA Gallery’s website and Facebook pages on July 15; the public will be able to comment on shortlisted works and the public comments will be considered during the selection of the Oseroff Memorial Purchase Prize.
The winning artist will be announced on Monday, August 5, with a presentation ceremony to be held at Roswell Park Comprehensive Cancer Center in September 2013.
