Roswell Park Staff Go Bald for Bucks in Support of Patients and Research

More than 30 staff take a lot off the top at fundraising celebration

(BUFFALO, NY) More than 30 Roswell Park Comprehensive Cancer Center faculty, staff, patient family members and supporters today took part in the Goin’ Bald for Bucks Team Roswell event, shaving their heads or cutting ten inches of their hair to raise funds and show support to patients. The event raised more than $36,000 for cancer research and patient support programs at Roswell Park.

Guest emcee DJ Anthony from KISS 98.5 led the celebration as participants faced the clippers at the staff-wide event. Participants included Roswell Park President and CEO Donald L. Trump, MD, FACP; a nurse who celebrated her own cancer survivorship by shaving her head; and Roswell Park’s long-time shuttle bus driver who shaved off the beard he has had for 25 years.

“By taking part in Goin’ Bald for Bucks, the Roswell Park community has demonstrated their support for our patients and families in a very visible and meaningful way,” said Dr. Trump. “Team Roswell’s efforts are much more than a haircut; they are making a real difference on behalf of life-saving cancer research and patient support programs at Roswell Park.”

Goin’ Bald for Bucks was founded by Lake Shore High School teacher Anthony George to honor his sister’s cancer battle. Thousands of participants from throughout our community and across the country take part in Goin’ Bald for Bucks each year. To start your own Goin’ Bald for Bucks event, visit www.BaldforBucks.org.
