Roswell Park Staff Go Bald for Bucks in Support of Patients and Research

More than 30 staff go under the clippers at tenth anniversary celebration

(BUFFALO, NY) More than 30 Roswell Park Comprehensive Cancer Center faculty, staff, patient family members and supporters today took part in the Goin’ Bald for Bucks Team Roswell event, shaving their heads or cutting ten inches of their hair to raise funds and show support to patients. The event raised over $38,000 for Roswell Park.

Guest emcee DJ Anthony from KISS 98.5 led the celebration as participants faced the clippers at the staff-wide event. This year marks the tenth anniversary of Goin’ Bald for Bucks, founded by Lake Shore High School teacher Anthony George to honor his sister’s cancer battle. Organizers hope to reach the million-dollar mark in cumulative funds raised over ten years by the end of 2011.

“Today’s Goin’ Bald for Bucks event was another demonstration that Roswell Park staff will go above and beyond to support our patients and their families,” said Dr. Donald L. Trump, MD, President and CEO of Roswell Park. “I invite participants from across Western New York to step up and go bald in solidarity with all those facing cancer.”

Thousands of participants from throughout our community and across the country take part in Goin’ Bald for Bucks each year. To start your own Goin’ Bald for Bucks event, visit www.BaldforBucks.org. Goin’ Bald for Bucks is supported by generous sponsors KISS 98.5 and Mighty Taco.
