Famed R&B Artist Lends a Hand to Fight Prostate Cancer

Charlie Wilson, famed R&B artist widely known as both an influential solo artist and lead vocalist for the GAP band in the 1980’s, along with several health experts and cancer survivors, joined forces on Friday, November 27th at Roswell Park Comprehensive Cancer Center to target local African-American men in promoting prostate cancer awareness.

Mr. Wilson was in Buffalo on Friday to perform a sold-out show at Kleinhan’s Music Hall, which he made the commitment of donating a percentage of concert tickets and promotional caps sold at the concert.

In February 2009, Charlie Wilson announced that he is undergoing treatment for prostate cancer. He has teamed up with the Prostate Cancer Foundation (PCF) to raise awareness and research funds for prostate cancer. His representatives approached Roswell Park Comprehensive Cancer Center in order to further his goal of making especially at-risk African-American men aware about prostate cancer.

The mission of Roswell Park Comprehensive Cancer Center is to understand, prevent and cure cancer.
