Sociologist Named to Leadership Role With Roswell Park’s Community Engagement Program

Promotion will see Dr. Elizabeth Bouchard facilitating efforts to identify, address health disparities

BUFFALO, N.Y. — Elizabeth Bouchard, PhD, has been promoted to Associate Director for Community Outreach and Engagement at Roswell Park Comprehensive Cancer Center. In this new role, she will facilitate meaningful connections with area residents and partner organizations.

Dr. Bouchard will work with other Roswell Park researchers and outreach specialists to take a deep dive into cancer issues that are important to Western New Yorkers. The Community Outreach and Engagement team looks for opportunities to open the door for more strategic research and clinical trial participation and build relationships with our community partners, all toward the goal of reducing health disparities and improving cancer prevention and control. She will continue to work as an Associate Professor of Oncology.

With Roswell Park since 2016, Dr. Bouchard has led research studies looking at connections between socioeconomic status and cancer outcomes. She has also examined access to health resources and healthcare navigation as well as the role of social networks and support systems for both patients and caregivers.

“Dr. Bouchard is an accomplished researcher who is passionate about our mission to overcome barriers to wellness,” said Christine Ambrosone, PhD, Senior VP of Population Sciences. “Her position is integral to our longstanding commitment to reducing cancer inequalities through advocacy and research, and she will bring great insight and expertise to this role.”

Dr. Bouchard earned her doctoral and master’s degrees in sociology from the University at Buffalo.
