Roswell Park’s President and CEO, Candace S. Johnson, PhD, was recently named to Becker’s Hospital Review’s 61 CEO Influencers to Know list! Dr. Johnson has served since 2015 as President and CEO of Roswell Park, where she also holds the M&T Bank Presidential Chair in Leadership and is a Professor of Oncology.
The first woman to lead the historic cancer center, Dr. Johnson has guided Roswell Park through massive growth, expanding immunotherapy, cellular therapy and community engagement while attracting world-renowned clinicians and scientists to Western New York. A pioneering cancer biologist, her research focuses on novel therapeutic strategies, including vitamin D mechanisms and combination cancer therapies. Prior to joining Roswell Park in 2002, she was Deputy Director of basic research at the University of Pittsburgh Cancer Institute and a Professor of Pharmacology and Medicine at the University of Pittsburgh School of Medicine.
