Join our esteemed Roswell Park faculty, visiting physician experts, and honorary guest patient speaker, as they discuss the identification and treatment of this rare yet commonly encountered disease. Participants will learn about this mimicker illness; a ‘Zebra’ of many stripes.
The goal of this event is to educate various subspecialties to have low suspicion in relevant clinical scenarios to minimize delay in diagnosis & treatment across various subspecialties of hematology, cardiology, nephrology, rheumatology, neurology, primary care, family medicine, and pulmonary medicine. The emphasis will be on practical insights and actionable information ready to be used in clinic.
Educational objectives
Following this program, participants should be able to:
- Identify features that should raise suspicion for a potential diagnosis of Amyloidosis
- Outline the methods available and their limitations for diagnosing Amyloidosis (AL vs ATTR)
- Discuss data and derived approaches from clinical trials for the management of AL Amyloidosis
- Identify challenges and possible barriers that can delay diagnosis, leading to higher disease severity & organ deterioration
- Utilization of stem cell transplant and multidisciplinary collaborative management for patients with AL Amyloidosis
- Understand disease spectrum, diagnosis and management of Cardiac Amyloidosis

This activity is optimal for students, residents, fellows, advanced practice practitioners, and faculty within numerous specialty areas such as hematology, cardiology, nephrology, rheumatology, neurology, pulmonology, primary care, and family medicine.

In-person participation is strongly encouraged, as there will be the opportunity to meet internationally renown leaders of the field and network with colleagues. Dinner will be served for all who participate.
Registration is required for in-person and virtual participation. The deadline for registration is Friday, 21 June, 2024. There is no registration fee for this activity.
