Roswell Park Faculty Present Research at National Surgical Oncology Meeting

Seven Roswell Park Cancer Institute (RPCI) teams have been invited to present their research at the 69th annual Cancer Symposium of the Society of Surgical Oncology (SSO), March 2–5 in Boston, Mass. Roswell Park faculty and fellows will present on several topics, including two novel calculators that help predict overall survival rates for patients diagnosed with esophageal and liver cancers.

Roswell Park Joins ACS, Other Partners in Support of ‘80% by 2018’

In a demonstration of unprecedented regional commitment to fighting colorectal cancer, Roswell Park Cancer Institute today joined other local health care systems and health insurers in pledging support for the American Cancer Society’s 80% by 2018 initiative, an effort to make sure that 80% of adults age 50 and older are getting recommended screening for colorectal cancer by 2018.

How Does Entolimod Suppress Cancer Metastasis? Latest Findings Published in PNAS

For nearly a decade, Roswell Park Comprehensive Cancer Center has collaborated with Cleveland BioLabs Inc. (CBLI), a Buffalo-based company, to support the development of a drug that has applications as both a cancer immunotherapy and a radiation countermeasure. They recently published the latest findings from these combined efforts in the journal Proceedings of the National Academy of Sciences of the United States of America.

Roswell Park Teams Awarded Nearly $7 Million in Research Funding

Investigators at Roswell Park Comprehensive Cancer Center have garnered nearly $7 million in recent research grants. The awards include a five-year, $2.4 million grant from the National Cancer Institute (NCI) to optimize a particular approach for administering photodynamic therapy (PDT), a form of cancer therapy that was developed at Roswell Park in the 1970s.

Renowned Oncologist Dr. Marc Ernstoff to Assume Leadership Roles at UB, Roswell Park

Marc S. Ernstoff, MD, has been appointed professor and chief of the Division of Hematology/Oncology in the Department of Medicine in the Jacobs School of Medicine and Biomedical Sciences at the University at Buffalo (UB), and chair of the Department of Medicine and senior vice president of clinical investigation at Roswell Park Comprehensive Cancer Center. Ernstoff also will serve as chief of the Division of Hematology/Oncology at UBMD Internal Medicine, the clinical practice plan of the UB Department of Medicine.

United behind the shared vision of reducing cancer’s impact in Western New York, the Buffalo Sabres and Roswell Park Comprehensive Cancer Center have launched a collaboration that will see the National Hockey League franchise and the National Cancer Institute-designated comprehensive cancer center teaming up to arm fans and supporters with important guidance on cancer risk, prevention and research.
