Roswell Park Researchers Seeing Links Between Genetic Profile, Trastuzumab Resistance

Researchers at Roswell Park Comprehensive Cancer Center are hoping to determine whether genetic profiling may effectively identify which breast cancer patients are most likely to respond to the drug trastuzumab. Preliminary research findings will be summarized by lead investigator Thaer Khoury, MD, FACP, in a presentation on Saturday, June 5, 2010 at the 46th annual meeting of the American Society of Clinical Oncology (ASCO) in Chicago, IL.

Gene Profile Study May Predict Esophageal Cancer Patient Response to Novel Chemotherapy Regimen

BUFFALO, NY — Gene expression profiling, combined with a novel chemoradiation regimen, may predict pathologic complete response in patients with esophageal cancer, according to research conducted at Roswell Park Cancer Institute (RPCI) and M. D. Anderson Cancer Center. Nikhil Khushalani, MD, an Assistant Professor in RPCI’s Department of Medicine, will present the preliminary results of the study Sunday, June 6, 2010 as part of the 46th annual meeting of the American Society of Clinical Oncology (ASCO) in Chicago, IL.

Researchers Find Link Between Body Mass Index, Outcomes for Hodgkin's Lymphoma Patients

BUFFALO, NY — Overweight or obese Hodgkin’s lymphoma patients who receive standard chemotherapy may experience poorer outcomes than those patients with body mass indices of less than 25, according to a retrospective analysis conducted by researchers at Roswell Park Cancer Institute (RPCI). First author Ritesh Patil, MD, of RPCI’s Department of Medicine, will present the results of this analysis in a poster session, June 5, at the 46th annual meeting of the American Society of Clinical Oncology in Chicago, IL.

Roswell Park Comprehensive Cancer Center and Marrano/Marc Equity cut ribbon to officially launch Raising the Roof Fundraiser

Representatives from Roswell Park Cancer Institute and Marrano/Marc Equity joined in a ribbon cutting ceremony today as they launched the fundraising partnership, Raising the Roof for Groundbreaking Cancer Research. Two previous Raising the Roof partnerships generated $160,000 in each year to assist cancer research to save lives. This year's campaign aims to raise a similar amount from the sale of a new patio home in the Greythorne community in Willamsville.
