H. Dean McSpadden

Biography:

Although I am originally from Delaware and grew up there, I developed a love for Buffalo during my time at the State University of New York at Buffalo School of Dentistry. I also met my wife at that time and so we were married the same week as my dental school graduation. We decided to move back to Delaware where I did a general practice residency in dentistry and then ended up practicing in Delaware for 43 years.

I had a great passion for restorative dentistry and was able to earn Fellowship and Mastership awards in the Academy of General Dentistry. I was also an active member of organized dentistry. I was on the Delaware State Board for 8 years, was President of the Board for 2 years and am still a life member of the American Dental Association. 

We also raised our two sons in Delaware while my wife was a critical care nurse at the VA Hospital. We might have stayed in Delaware, but for a few events coming together simultaneously. My wife retired from nursing, I gave up my private practice, and one of our sons moved his family to Buffalo. The thought of being close to our grandchildren was the biggest factor in moving us back to our favorite city.

I was also able to get a position here at Roswell Park, which afforded me the privilege and the challenge of helping some wonderful patients and teaching as well. I love the people here and am so blessed to work with our great team.
