Eugene M. M. Cullen

Biography

Eugene Cullen joined Roswell Park Comprehensive Cancer Center in 2011 and presently oversees internal audits. In this role, Mr. Cullen provides advice and counsel to Roswell Park’s CEO, board members and Audit Committee regarding risk matters affecting the strategic direction of the Institute. In addition, he is responsible for developing RoswelI’s annual risk assessment and three-year audit plan, and reports on the effectiveness of management’s remediation of risks identified in previous audits.

For over 30 years, Mr. Cullen has worked with health care organizations to achieve strategic objectives such as reduced risk and improved patient safety. Supervising internal and external audits and advisory services teams, Mr. Cullen also has extensive advisory experience at Big Four public accounting firms including KPMG and Deloitte. Additionally, Mr. Cullen spent several years in directorial positions at the Hospital for Special Surgery in New York and Greenwich Hospital in Greenwich, Ct.

He earned his Master of Professional Studies in Health Care Management at the Graduate School for Management and Urban Policy at The New School in New York. He is certified by the Internal Audit Association in Risk Management Assurance, Control Self-Assessment and is a certified Internal Control Auditor.

Mr. Cullen is the author of two KPMG white papers: Healthcare — A Question of Security and Overview of Proposed Changes and Clarifications to Meaningful Use. He is a member of several professional organizations including The Institute of Internal Auditors, the Healthcare Financial Management Association and the Association of Healthcare Internal Auditors. He also serves on the board of the Western New York Internal Audit Association.
