Description of Duties

Posted 6/23/2021: The laboratory of Dr. Joseph Barbi in the Department of Immunology is looking for a postdoctoral candidate to pursue research projects aimed at exploring the mechanisms responsible for immune suppression and activation in the cancer setting with a particular emphasis on how obesity impacts these mechanisms. The postdoctoral fellow will assist in the execution of studies being carried out in the Barbi lab and that of collaborators (also at Roswell Park). These studies will utilize in vitro and in vivo assays of immune cell function, mouse models of both cancer and immune-mediated pathologies (i.e., autoimmunity), and the analysis of clinical samples. The ability of experimental agents and treatments to boost natural and therapy-induced anti-tumor immunity will also be explored.

Qualifications

The candidate should have a Ph.D. in immunology (or a related field) and should have prior experience with commonly used laboratory methods and murine disease models. Expertise in cancer immunology and related assays is highly preferred. The candidate must be able to work independently, develop and carry out multiple scientific projects simultaneously, possess strong interpersonal skills, and have a proven track record of productivity.
