Umar Iqbal, MBBS

Department of Urology

Biography

I received my MBBS degree as a China Scholarship Council (CSC) awardee from Tianjin Medical University, in 2018. There, I worked on basic science research focusing on oxidative stress and its mitigation in biological systems. This was followed by a brief stint in a residency program at the Sher-e-Kashmir Institute of Medical Sciences, India. With the realization that medicine of the future is going to be heavily driven by robotics and artificial intelligence, I joined as a Research Associate with the Applied Technology Laboratory for Advanced Surgery (ATLAS) Program. With the ATLAS team, I am working on advancing robotic surgery, the interaction of technology and training, and use of artificial intelligence in aiding radiological decisions and barriers to communication during surgery plus making our patents for surgical devices market-ready.
