About Taryn Saracina

Biography:

Dr. Taryn Saracina provides psychological services to pediatric patients with sickle cell disease and other non-malignant hematological disorders and their families. Dr. Saracina has focused her clinical interests on the treatment of children and adolescents with chronic illness. In her current role, Dr. Saracina works with pediatric patients and their families to provide comprehensive psychological care for children and adolescents affected by sickle cell disease and other non-malignant hemoglobinopathies. With a deep understanding of the unique challenges and stressors faced by these patients and their families, Dr. Saracina is committed to helping her patients achieve optimal health and well-being.

Dr. Saracina utilizes a patient-centered, evidence-based approach to treatment that is tailored to the specific needs of each individual patient. She works collaboratively with the medical team and other community-based providers, as well as academic institutions to ensure that patients receive integrated and coordinated care that addresses their physical emotional, and academic needs. She is an active member of several professional organizations, including the American Psychological Association (APA), New York State Psychological Association, and Psychological Association of Western New York.

After completing her MA in psychology, Dr. Saracina went on to earn her Doctor of Psychology (PsyD) in Clinical Psychology from Medaille University. Dr. Saracina completed pre-doctoral externship at Children's Psychiatry Clinic, a New York State Office of Mental Health licensed center and her pre-doctoral internship at John R. Oishei Children's Hospital of Buffalo and Roswell Park Comprehensive Cancer Center, specializing in Pediatric Hematology-Oncology. She completed her post-doctoral fellowship at Roswell Park Comprehensive Cancer Center specializing in providing psychosocial support to pediatric patients with sickle cell disease and other non-malignant disorders and their families.
