A postdoctoral position is available in the laboratory of Dr. Joseph Longo in the Department of Immunology at Roswell Park Comprehensive Cancer Center. The Longo Lab studies how metabolism and nutritional programming regulate anti-tumor immunity and tumor progression, with the goal of identifying actionable metabolic strategies to treat cancer.
Our laboratory conducts multidisciplinary research at the intersection of tumor biology, immunology, and metabolism. We use physiologically relevant in vitro systems, genetically engineered mouse models, stable isotope tracing, and other state-of-the-art approaches to investigate how cancer cells and tumor-resident immune cells sense, acquire, and utilize nutrients to support their growth and function.
The successful candidate will develop and lead independent and collaborative research projects focused on the metabolic regulation of tumor growth and anti-tumor immunity. Responsibilities include designing and executing experiments, analyzing and interpreting data, presenting research findings, preparing manuscripts and fellowship/grant applications, and collaborating with laboratory members and institutional partners. The position provides opportunities for scientific independence, professional development, mentorship, and participation in a highly collaborative cancer research environment.
Applicants should be completing a PhD or have recently earned a PhD in immunology, cancer biology, molecular biology, metabolism, or a related field. Candidates should have a strong record of scientific productivity and research accomplishment, excellent verbal and written communication skills, the ability to work both independently and collaboratively in a team environment, and strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
Experience with mouse models, cancer immunology, immunotherapy, metabolism, or related experimental approaches is preferred but not required.
Candidates from all backgrounds are encouraged to apply.
Interested applicants should submit a CV, cover letter describing research interests and relevant experience, and contact information for three professional references.
Applications should be sent to Joseph Longo, PhD at Joseph.Longo@RoswellPark.org.
