Did you know that 1 in 6 men will be diagnosed with prostate cancer? But with early detection, about 90% of these cancers will be cured. That’s why Roswell Park teamed up with the Buffalo Bills this year to make it easier than ever to "know your stats."
In collaboration with the American Urological Association Foundation’s Know Your Stats about Prostate Cancer® campaign, our Prostate Cancer Team hosted a free Prostate Cancer Early Detection Outreach Clinic on Tuesday, October 4, 2011 at Ralph Wilson Stadium. Nearly 170 men came out for the free screening, which included prostate specific antigen (PSA) blood tests and digital rectal exams (DRE) to those who were eligible.
Those who attended were greeted by members of the Buffalo Jills and Buffalo Bills Alumni, as well as Buffalo Bill wide receiver David Nelson and Bills' mascot Billy Buffalo. 97 Rock's Carl Russo broadcasted live from the event and hockey analyst and former Buffalo Sabre Mike Robitaille was also on hand. A special thanks to all who made the event an astounding success—and to all the men who came out to take charge of their prostate health.
Anyone who participated in the screening will be receiving test results and recommendations in the mail within a couple of weeks. Questions? Call 1-877-ASK-RPCI (1-877-275-7724).
