Food Group Foods Allowed On Meal Plan Foods Not Allowed

Toast, variety of breads, muffins, biscuits, bagels, danish, crackers, macaroni (pasta), noodles, barley or potatoes.

Uncooked macaroni, noodles, barley or potatoes. 

Raw dough or batters. 

Brewer's Yeast - uncooked. 

Grain products with seeds or nuts added after cooking or baking.

Fruits Pastuerized fruit juice.

Well washed and peeled unblemished fresh fruit (e.g. bananas, oranges, melons, apples, and pears.)

Cooked or canned fruits.

Dried fruit.

Fruit juice that is not pasteurized.

Raw Fruit that has not been washed and peeled or cooked.

Raw grapes, cherries or berries.

Vegetables Cooked or Canned vegetables. 

Well washed and peeled unblemished fresh carrots and cucumbers.

Raw vegetables (except peeled/washed carrots or cucumbers).

Vegetable sprouts.

Meat, Fish, Poultry, Eggs, Cheese, Nuts and Legumes Fresh meat, fish, and poultry cooked to well-done.  Determine with internal temperature reading of:
Beef and pork: 160° F
Poultry: 180° F
Fish: 160° F
, or until meat is white and flaky.

Hard boiled or well cooked eggs.

Freshly prepared egg salad, tuna salad, chicken salad without raw vegetables.

Cottage cheese.

Commerically packaged mild/medium cheddar cheese, Swiss cheese, American cheese.

Hotdogs, precooked or smoked ham, deli meats and sausages heated to an internal temperature of 160° F.

Processed nuts (e.g., canned or bottled).

Canned or cooked legumes.
Commercially packaged peanut butter.

All raw or undercooked (rare or medium, medium well done) meat, fish poultry and eggs.
Smoked fish, lox, pickled fish, raw cleams or oysters.

Undercooked or raw eggs.

Egg salad, tuna salad or chicken salad made with uncooked fresh vegetables.

Sharp chedder cheese (uncooked), blue cheese or Roquefort cheese.

Soft cheese like feta, brie, camembert.

Deli-sliced cheeses and deli-sliced or prepackaged cold cuts eaten unheated.

Nuts with shells.

Uncooked or unbaked seeds or legumes.

Raw tofu.

Milk and Non-Cheese
Milk Products
Pasteurized milk, soy milk* (see note below), Lactaid milk®.
Pasteurized yogurt, ice cream, sherbet and pudding.

All non-dairy milk products.

Unpasteurized milk or products made with unpasteurized milk.
Liquid Nutritionals All canned products or powders made using pasteurized milk or water from the approved list.  None.
 Fats Butter, margarine, vegetable oil, salad spread, cream cheese, sour cream. Blue cheese-containing spreads or condiments.

Salad dressings containing raw eggs (like Caesar salad dressing) and/or aged cheeses.

 Desserts Cakes, pies, donuts, cookies, danish.

Cooked or canned pudding or custard.

Jell-O® or Jell-O® molds with allowed fruits (see Fruits).

Unrefrigerated cream and custard-filled desserts. 

Desserts topped with uncooked fruit.

Soft-serve ice cream.

 Sweets Sugar, syrups, processed honey, candy. Raw honey.

 Spices Salt, lemon juice, ground black pepper, plain dried spices.

 Water Tap water/ice from the 5th floor or on 6 North of Roswell Park.

Distilled Water.

Boiled tap water (if not from 5th floor/6 North unit of Roswell Park).  Boiled well water.
