Dr. Seshadri is the Scientific Director of Translational Imaging Shared Resource (TISR) and an Associate Professor of Oncology in the Department of Pharmacology and Therapeutics at RPCI. As the scientific director, Dr. Seshadri oversees all small animal imaging services for TISR and provides strategic direction for the resource.
He has extensive experience in the use of imaging techniques including magnetic resonance imaging (MRI), optical imaging (fluorescence, bioluminescence), intravital microscopy, ultrasound and photoacoustic imaging techniques. Dr. Seshadri has published over 30 peer-reviewed articles on the use of imaging methods to assess tumor biology and treatment response in preclinical and clinical settings.
Dr. Spernyak is the Director of Operations and Technology for TISR and an Imaging Research Scientist in the Department of Cell Stress Biology at RPCI. Dr. Spernyak has a BS in Physics and PhD in Biophysics and joined the resource in 2001 shortly after its inception. As Director of Operations and Technology, he is responsible for optimizing imaging protocols and improving the efficiency of image acquisition and data analysis. He is also responsible for implementing new acquisition methods to meet the individual needs of research projects. Dr. Spernyak has co-authored over 20 peer-reviewed articles over a wide range on MR imaging techniques including spectroscopy, diffusion, dynamic contrast enhancement, contrast agent development and multi-modality co-registration.
Drs. Seshadri and Spernyak jointly address the research needs of investigators and provide their scientific expertise to enable the conduct of imaging research studies in a timely and cost-effective manner.
