Roswell Park Cancer Institute has been awarded the 2007 "Global Smokefree Partnership" award given out on behalf of the Global Smokefree Partnership Steering Group.
The award was made at a meeting for the Society for Research on Nicotine and Tobacco held in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. Ernesto Sebrie, PhD, Division of Health Behavior, accepted the award on behalf of the Institute.
The award acknowledges the outstanding work of Drs. Andrew Hyland and Mark Travers who have facilitated smokefree air research in over 40 different countries with assistance from our TTURC and a grant from the Flight Attendant's Medical Research Institute.
The award committe said "On behalf of the Global Smokefree Partnership Steering Group . . . Roswell Park Cancer Institute has won the Global Smokefree Partnership 2007 award for an outstanding, sustained contribution to the evidence base for effective smokefree policies. "
