The main goal of the Office of Cancer Health Disparities Resarch is to assure that all cancer patients and communities in Western New York (WNY) can benefit from the clinical and scientific advances accomplished at Roswell Park Comprehensive Cancer Center. To assure that the Office meets this goal, a number of stake-holders representing various organizations and interests throughout the WNY-region, especially those that serve minorities and other under-served populations, has routinely met with Office staff & Roswell Park decision-makers over the past four years as members of the Community Advisory Steering Committee (CASC) to specifically offer guidance, input and other assistance.
The role of the C-CAB is as follows:
- Enhance capacity (between Roswell Park and the community)
- Build social capital
- Inform program ideas
- Inform policies and methods
- To reduce cancer health disparities in WNY
Presently, there are thirteen active members of the C-CAB. Meetings occur every two months at Roswell Park.
