How is it Administered?
This medication is taken by mouth as a liquid. If it causes nausea, you can take it with food. Carefully measure each dose using the dropper provided.
What is it Used For?
Opium preparations are used along with other measures to treat severe diarrhea or pain. These medicines belong to the group of medicines called narcotics.
How Does it Work?
Opium medications work by increasing smooth muscle tone in the intestines, which slows down digestion. This helps decrease diarrhea. Use of any opiate medication may cause constipation.
