How is it Administered?

This medication is given by injection into a vein (intravenously or IV).

What is it Used For?

Pepcid® is used to treat ulcers, gastroesophageal reflux disease [GERD], and conditions in which the stomach produces too much acid.

How Does it Work?

Famotidine is in a class of drugs called H2 blockers. It works on certain cells in your stomach and lowers the amount of acid produced. Less acid means less irritation in your gastrointestinal tract.
