Dapsone is taken orally as a tablet, usually once a day or three times a week. It is also available as a skin gel for topical use.
What is it Used For?
Dapsone is used in the treatment of skin infections.
How Does it Work?
Dapsone works to treat infections by inhibiting an enzyme (dihydropteroate synthase) that microorganisms need. Without this enzyme, the microorganism cannot effectively reproduce, and it dies.
