The Leukemia Section at Roswell Park Cancer Institute (RPCI) is dedicated to quality patient care, innovative research, and developing more effective treatments for all types of leukemia. Clinical research conducted by our faculty and staff consistently translates into new leukemia therapies and advance overall knowledge of the disease.
In order to provide patients with the most effective patient care possible, RPCI’s Leukemia Section has developed an in-patient team approach. Each team member has a specific responsibility, ensuring that every aspect of the patient care is performed thoroughly and efficiently. The team is headed by a leukemia physician who oversees the work of other team members including fellows, nurse practitioners, physician assistants, pharmacists, social worker, discharge-planning coordinator, psychologist and research coordinators.
The Leukemia Section also generated a nurse practitioner/physician assistant clinic in the Chemotherapy/Infusion Center designed to see patients receiving out-patient chemotherapy or those who have low blood counts and are in need of transfusions.
Our Clinical Trials cover acute myeloid leukemia, acute lymphoblastic leukemia, chronic myeloid leukemia, myelodysplastic syndrome and myeloproliferative diseases.
