Univera Healthcare has committed to donate $95,000 to Roswell Park Cancer Institute’s Esperanza y Vida initiative (Hope and Life), to address disparities in breast cancer, diabetes and cervical cancer within the Latino community in Western New York.
Dr. Michael Kuettel, the Chair of the RPCI Department of Radiation Medicine, has been recognized by the American College of Radiation Oncology as “one of the nation’s leading radiation oncologists.” Dr. Kuettel will receive the 2014 ACRO gold medal at the organization’s annual meeting in Orlando, Fla., today.
You’ve probably been seeing and hearing the word “genomics” a lot in local and statewide media reports lately, and that’s definitely good news.
Genomics is the science that makes personalized medicine possible. It involves analyzing tiny tissue samples using high-powered gene sequencers to produce a road map of a single person’s genetic coding.
As I take stock of the accomplishments of the Roswell Park community over the last year, two things strike me: the breadth and diversity of the projects that kept us busy over the course of 2013, and the participation of an ever-greater number of collaborators in these efforts. We truly have been firing on all cylinders, with help from a long list of partners.
