Two Roswell Park Senior Nursing Leaders Honored By UB School Of Nursing

BUFFALO, NY —Two senior members of the Roswell Park Comprehensive Cancer Center (Roswell Park) nursing staff were honored at the University at Buffalo (UB) School of Nursing’s eighth annual Alumni Luncheon today at the Adam’s Mark Hotel, Buffalo.

Maureen Kelly, RN, MS, Vice President for Patient Care Services and Chief Nursing Officer at Roswell Park, received the Dean’s Award for Excellence in Service and Joanne McVey, MSN, RN, Director of Patient Care Services and Nurse Administrator, received the Distinguished Preceptor Award. Kelly was honored as a champion of nursing and of nursing education as a vehicle for providing outstanding patient care. And McVey, in her role as a clinical preceptor for UB’s senior nursing students, implemented the first dedicated education unit in a specialized cancer hospital.

“Our nurses have taken a leadership role in every facet of Roswell Park’s operations, so it’s no surprise to see two of them honored for their service and leadership by one of our key community partners,” said Donald L. Trump, MD, FACP, Roswell Park’s President and CEO. “The School of Nursing has selected two very worthy honorees; Maureen and Joanne are two of the best examples I can think of for nursing students to emulate.”
