Two Former CCS Healthcare Providers Join Roswell Park Community Cancer Practice Network

Respected oncology-hematology experts will provide care at Soniwala Hematology Oncology Associates

BUFFALO, N.Y. — The Roswell Park Community Cancer Practice network of outstanding oncology physicians has expanded with the appointments of Frederick Hong, MD, and Michael Krabak, MD, PhD, as staff physicians at Soniwala Hematology Oncology Associates at 199 Park Club Lane, Suite 200, Williamsville, N.Y. They join Roswell Park with nearly 60 years’ combined experience as physicians and more than two decades each caring for patients with cancer.

“Drs. Hong and Krabak are gifted oncologists who have earned the esteem of their colleagues and the trust of their patients,” says Thomas Schwaab, MD, PhD, who oversees Roswell Park Comprehensive Cancer Center’s community practices as Chief of Strategy, Business Development and Outreach at the Buffalo-based comprehensive cancer center. “They are an excellent fit with the Northtowns practice, which operates under the medical direction of Saif Soniwala, MD, and the Roswell Park philosophy of care, which builds off the unique needs and values of each individual patient.”

“I am proud and excited to join the team of one of the nation’s most prominent cancer centers,” says Dr. Hong, whose training in oncology and hematology included a fellowship at Roswell Park. “Roswell Park leads the way in cancer care in this region, and I look forward to both contributing to that effort and offering my patients an expanded array of services in the same community where I have practiced for my entire career.”

“Roswell Park puts their patients first and supports that philosophy with resources across every aspect of cancer care, from access to the most advanced therapies and clinical trials to supportive care and follow-up for cancer survivors,” adds Dr. Krabak. “We’ve had the opportunity to work with Roswell Park physicians many times over the years, and there’s tremendous mutual respect among all of us.”

A graduate of the University of Vermont College of Medicine, Dr. Hong completed an internship and residency at the University at Buffalo (UB). He remains a Clinical Assistant Professor of Medicine at UB’s Jacobs School of Medicine and Biomedical Sciences. He was President of Century Medical Associates P.C. in Williamsville from 2009-12.

Dr. Krabak earned his medical degree and a PhD from UB. He completed a medical oncology and hematology fellowship at The Johns Hopkins Hospital after finishing an internship and residency training in internal medicine at the Barnes-Jewish Hospital. His past employment includes a tenure as Chief of Oncology at Sisters of Charity Hospital, part of the Catholic Health System. He was voted by his peers as one of Western New York’s top medical oncologists for the years 2013–2016.

Both will care for patients with various solid tumors and hematologic cancers at 199 Park Club Lane, Suite 200, Williamsville. To schedule an appointment with Dr. Hong or Dr. Krabak, call 716-634-3340.
