Take the Team Cure Challenge at the TOPS 5K/10K

BUFFALO, NY - Runners and walkers of all abilities are invited to take part in the TOPS 5K/10K Run/Family Walk, set for Saturday, August 28 at the TOPS/National Fuel Headquarters in Williamsville, NY. All proceeds from the event will raise funds for cancer research and patient care programs at Roswell Park Comprehensive Cancer Center through the Team Cure Challenge program.

The third annual TOPS 5K/10K is ideal for families, walkers and runners of all ability levels. The event will begin at the TOPS/National Fuel Headquarters, 6363 Main Street, Williamsville, NY, 14221. The registration fee and minimum donation to participate is $20 per runner before the event, and $25 on the day of the race.

Susan Sullivan, a Buffalo woman who is currently in treatment for lung cancer, will lead a team at the TOPS 5K/10K to raise funds for Roswell Park. Sullivan’s team, “Breath of Life,” is made up of more than 70 walkers and runners from the community who are inspired by her personal fight and support her efforts to help other patients as she faces her own experience with cancer.

“This is a great cause that builds a lot of camaraderie, and is also a great way to bring more awareness to the need for cancer research,” said Sullivan. “If the money we raise helps put an end to cancer, I’ll feel like I’ve done something with my experience.”

The event will conclude with a post-race party featuring an awards ceremony, refreshments, auctions, raffles and more. Registration opens on race day at 7:30 am, and both races will begin at 9:30 am.

Participants are encouraged to prepare for the event by stopping by the Pre-Race Packet Pickup session on Friday, August 27, from noon - 6 p.m. at the TOPS store located at 5274 Main St. in Williamsville.
