"Strike-Out Breast Cancer" to Raise Funds for Cancer Research, Patient Care

Local bowling association-sponsored event to raise funds for Roswell Park Comprehensive Cancer Center and Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Foundation

BUFFALO, NY The Tonawandas United States Bowling Congress Association will host the fifth annual Strike-Out Breast Cancer fundraising event on Sunday, March 1, 2009 at Manor Lanes in the Town of Tonawanda. The event features bowling from 1 pm – 4 pm, lunch for all participants, a silent auction, a baked goods sale and a 50-50 drawing. Donations and memorials will be accepted. This event is open to the public.

Top bowlers from throughout upstate New York will compete in the event. Health and cancer-related educational resources will also be available, including information and advice on quitting smoking.

A portion of proceeds from the event will benefit cancer research and patient care at Roswell Park Comprehensive Cancer Center. Additional proceeds also benefit the Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Foundation. Last year, more than 100 bowlers raised over $1,000 at Strike-Out Breast Cancer.

The Tonawandas United States Bowling Congress Association supports and certifies competitive bowling at five bowling centers located in the Tonawanda NY area. The TONUSBC provides activities and events for athletes of all ages and all levels of bowling ability.
