Simply Pierogi Is Helping Kids with Cancer and Blood Disorders at Roswell Park — One Pierogi at a Time
Today Simply Pierogi, a new segment of Chrusciki Bakery — a family-owned business that has been a part of the Buffalo community for over 30 years— launched a three-year partnership with Roswell Park Comprehensive Cancer Center to benefit the Courage of Carly Fund.
After holding a special taste-testing session with Courage of Carly members and their families last month, Simply Pierogi was excited to announce that their popular potato onion flavor was the pierogi of choice to drive the partnership. Late this morning, Simply Pierogi made a special visit to Roswell Park to provide samples of the pierogi to young patients at the cancer center.
In the first year of the partnership, 15% of potato onion pierogi sales at retailers and restaurants will be donated back to the Courage of Carly Fund — the pediatric arm of the Roswell Park Alliance Foundation that raises and manages donations to Roswell Park. Courage of Carly Fund will direct this funding toward pediatric cancer research and year-round programming for young Roswell Park patients with cancer and blood disorders.
“Being a family business and a part of the Buffalo community, we felt moved to give back in a way that can support children and families affected by cancer. As cancer has affected our family and many other families, our hope is to provide support and courage to the children, siblings, and parents of Roswell Park,” says Ania Duchon, Owner of Simply Pierogi and Chrusciki Bakery.
“It’s the community donations and partnerships with companies like Simply Pierogi that makes the programs offered by Courage of Carly Fund possible. This generosity provides critical dollars to Roswell Park that advance pediatric cancer research at Roswell Park and enable us to provide year-round programs for kids and families as they’re facing extraordinary challenges,” says Jennifer Hickok, Director of Corporate Partnerships at the Alliance Foundation. “We’re so grateful to Simply Pierogi for choosing to give back to Courage of Carly Fund and helping young patients right here in our community.”
