Roswell Park’s OmniSeq Target Panel Discussion Dec. 2 to Inform Public About Groundbreaking Diagnostic Test

Experts to answer questions from cancer patients and caregivers about advanced laboratory test developed at Roswell Park

BUFFALO, N.Y. — In July, Roswell Park Comprehensive Cancer Center (Roswell Park) received approval from the New York State Department of Health to begin genomic testing of cancer patients using an advanced molecular diagnostic laboratory test developed by the Roswell Park Center for Personalized Medicine. Now, the same experts who led the development and clinical implementation of that groundbreaking tool, OmniSeq Target™, are conducting a public forum to help families affected by cancer understand how this new approach is changing the face of cancer diagnosis and treatment.

The OmniSeq Target Panel Discussion will be held Tuesday, Dec. 2, from 6 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. at the Roswell Park Amherst Center, 100 College Parkway, Suite 290, Amherst, NY 14221. Featured participants are Carl Morrison, MD, DVM, Executive Director of the Center for Personalized Medicine; Grace Dy, MD, Associate Professor of Oncology in the Department of Medicine; and Pamela Germain, MBA, Vice President for Managed Care and Outreach.

OmniSeq Target can uncover key genetic information about certain cancers, quickly informing doctors of the best care options available to target a cancer’s unique characteristics. The test is currently available for advanced-stage lung cancer and metastatic melanoma, and tests for additional cancers, including colorectal cancer, are currently being developed.

This free panel discussion is open to cancer patients, their caregivers and anyone else interested in hearing more about this groundbreaking diagnostic tool. The experts will answer questions such as:

  • Who can OmniSeq Target help?
  • How much does it cost?
  • Will my insurance plan cover this test?
  • How can I order this test?
  • How is the test performed?
  • How soon will I receive my test results?

Light refreshments will be served. Register online at roswellpark.org/omniseqpanel or by calling 1-800-ROSWELL (1-800-767-9355). The discussion will be videotaped for posting on the Roswell Park website.
