Roswell Park Comprehensive Cancer Center Offers Support Groups for Young Men and Women Diagnosed with Cancer

Wednesday, March 24, 2010

BUFFALO, NY – When a patient is diagnosed with cancer, the support of others is so important. Roswell Park Comprehensive Cancer Center has various cancer support groups where patients share experiences and find encouragement.

Roswell Park’s Young Women’s Support and Networking Group is for young women aged 18-30 who have been diagnosed with cancer. The group meets on the third Tuesday of every month, 5-6 pm. For more information, please contact Rachel Humphrey, LMSW, or Michelle Spellman, LMSW, at 716/845-8022.

There is also a group for young men. The Young Men’s Support and Networking Group reminds young men diagnosed with cancer who are between the ages of 18 and 35 that they are not alone. Group members gain from the experiences of others and are able to share their own experiences. The group meets every Wednesday from 5:30-6:30pm. Those interested in attending should RSVP by contacting Teresa Johnson, LCSW at (716) 845-8022 or by emailing

Both groups meet in Roswell Park’s Hospitality Room (G550) in the Main Hospital. Free, secure parking in the Radiation parking lot off Oak Street is available. Participation in all support groups is offered free of charge.
