Premier International Meeting Drives Cancer Research – Experts Available for Media Comment

More than 30 Roswell Park Comprehensive Cancer Center faculty and staff will present research at the American Association for Cancer Research (AACR) Annual Meeting 2015 in Philadelphia, Pa from April 18-22. Roswell Park experts are also available for the media to provide their opinion on the scientific research that is being presented at the meeting.

“This meeting celebrates the explosion of knowledge and the remarkable advances in technology that have become the foundation of modern research and treatment,” says Alex Adjei, MD, PhD, Senior Vice President of Clinical Research at Roswell Park. “Through translation of laboratory research into the clinic, it may be possible to develop new treatments and prevention therapies that could significantly improve the survival and quality of life for cancer patients.”

This year’s meeting theme – “Bringing Cancer Discoveries to Patients” – underscores the vital and inextricable link between discovery and treatment, and it reinforces the fact that research underpins all the progress being made in the field toward cancer cures. The AACR Annual Meeting will showcase a prestigious roster of speakers, hundreds of invited talks, and more than 6,000 scientific studies from researchers around the world.

Among the highlights of this year’s presentations from Roswell Park faculty members are epidemiological studies that offer insight into neuropathy, lymphedema, and breast cancer risk. Other research will focus on the potential of novel immune-therapeutics.

Members of the media interested in learning more about Roswell Park’s studies presented at the AACR Annual Meeting 2015, or if in need of an expert for comment on another study, should contact a Roswell Park public information officer.
