Lung Cancer Patients, Families Invited to "Breath of Life" Celebration

Morning of camaraderie and support planned for November 6.

BUFFALO, NY — Roswell Park Comprehensive Cancer Center invites lung cancer patients, their families and caregivers from across Western New York to attend the annual Breath of Life Celebration on Saturday, November 6 from 9 to 11 am in Roswell Park’s Research Studies Center. The Center is located across from the main hospital on Carlton Street in Buffalo.

The event will include opening remarks by Mary Reid, PhD, Associate Professor of Oncology, and Alex A. Adjei, MD, PhD, the Katherine Anne Gioia Chair in Cancer Medicine, both of Roswell Park. The celebration also will include patients sharing their personal stories about dealing with lung cancer, and informational tables about resources available to families.

It is estimated that 222,520 new cases of lung cancer will be diagnosed this year in the United States and that 157,300 Americans will die from the disease in 2010. More people die from lung cancer than any other type of cancer.
