Hannelore Heemers, PhD Joins Roswell Park Comprehensive Cancer Center’s Urology Department

BUFFALO, NY - Hannelore Heemers, PhD, has been appointed to the position of Assistant Professor in the Department of Urology and Member of the Genitourinary Program at Roswell Park Comprehensive Cancer Center. Dr. Heemers was previously with the Mayo Clinic in Rochester, Minnesota, as a Research Associate.

Dr. Heemers graduated from Catholic University of Leuven, Belgium, and did her post-doctoral work at the Mayo Clinic. She has been honored with several awards, including the Career Development Award from the National Institutes of Health Prostate Specialized Programs of Research Excellence.

She is a member of several professional organizations, such as the American Association for Cancer Research and the American Association for the Advancement of Science. Dr. Heemers has been the recipient of grants from the National Institutes of Health and the Department of Defense, among others. She is published in many peer-reviewed journals, and serves as an ad-hoc reviewer for Cancer Research, Molecular Cancer Research, British Journal of Urology International, as well as Cellular and Molecular Biology Letters.
