(BUFFALO, NY) Giuliana Rancic, star of E!’s Fashion Police and a breast cancer survivor, visited Buffalo today to receive the Gilda Radner Courage Award from Roswell Park Cancer Institute. Giuliana and her husband Bill attended the 22nd annual All Star Night gala at the Buffalo Niagara Convention Center to share remarks about their family’s experience with breast cancer.

Ms. Rancic was diagnosed with breast cancer in 2011, and she and Bill shared the experience of her diagnosis and treatment with their national audience through public appearances and their Style Network reality show Giuliana and Bill. At All Star Night, the couple spoke of the impact breast cancer had on them, and how the experience inspired them to become advocates for other women facing the disease.

The evening’s program also included recognition of Williamsville resident Kunle Odunsi, MD, PhD, Chair, Department of Gynecologic Oncology at Roswell Park, who received the Thomas B. Tomasi, MD, PhD Hope Award for his career achievements in cancer research. Additionally, Kali Korzelius of Grand Island, NY, a dedicated volunteer and program assistant for Roswell Park’s Adolescents and Young Adults with Cancer program who lost her battle with brain cancer in September 2012, was honored posthumously with the Katherine Anne Gioia Inspiration Award.

All Star Night 2012, presented with support from M&T Bank, featured the theme “Destination: Cure” and celebrated the diverse cultures and backgrounds that are represented in the Roswell Park community. Proceeds from the evening will be used to fund promising cancer research and compassionate patient care programs at Roswell Park.
