Empire State Ride Launches 2016 Adventure Across New York State

BUFFALO, N.Y. — Cancer advocates and bicyclists can now sign up for the 2016 Empire State Ride, a one-of-a-kind adventure across New York state with one mission: win the fight against cancer. This unique event, set for July 30 to Aug. 6, raises funds for cutting-edge cancer research at Roswell Park Comprehensive Cancer Center, one of the nation’s leading cancer centers.

Riders will embark from Manhattan, travel through some of the most scenic parts of New York state and end their journey at one of the natural wonders of the world: Niagara Falls. Although the ride will cover more than 500 miles, the event is fully supported and welcomes participants of all fitness levels. Bicyclists also have the option of signing up for one of three one-day rides along the route from Albany to Utica, Syracuse to Rochester and Rochester to Niagara Falls.

“The Empire State Ride offers a fun, challenging adventure, and our participants will definitely have the experience of a lifetime — but their efforts will have an impact on other people’s lives, as well,” said Jay Josker, Empire State Ride Coordinator. “By riding and raising critically needed funds for new, groundbreaking research initiatives, our participants will help take us one step closer to our goal of creating a world without cancer. They will help find cures for cancer and save lives.”

Last year, 10 riders took part in a test of the Empire State Ride, raising nearly $55,000. Participants came from across the Northeast and as far away as France to take part in the event.
