With a cancer diagnosis and its therapy, multiple issues come to play in relation to quality of life. Roswell Park has recently introduced a pilot program to its pediatric cancer patients, as well as their caregivers and family members. The Healing Touch Pilot Program consists of eight two-hour training classes held at Roswell Park over a four-month period. The goal of the program is to help relieve the symptoms of cancer treatment at any stage of the cancer journey.

Listen in as Lynda Kwon Beaupin, MD, Assistant Professor of Oncology describes how this safe energy medicine modality can complement conventional medicine. You’ll also hear from Suzanne Hess, PhD, CHTP, Grant Coordinator and Co-Director of the Healing Touch Pilot Program. Dr. Hess is a Certified Healing Touch Practitioner who has more than nine years of experience and more than 300 hours of formal training.

Teresa O’Connor joins Drs. Beaupin and Hess, sharing thoughts on her experiences in the pilot program with her eight-year-old daughter, Molly, who was diagnosed with Langerhans cell histiocytosis in February 2012. Molly recently completed chemotherapy treatment and enjoys attending the training classes with her mom and bringing what she learns home to her dad and sisters.
