Joyce M. Yasko, PhD, joined the staff of Roswell Park Cancer Institute (RPCI) in 2002 as Director of Clinical Research Services, and was appointed Vice President of Clinical Research Administration and Services in 2005. In 2011 she was appointed as RPCI’s Chief Clinical Operations Officer.
Dr. Yasko earned a master’s degree in Nursing Education with a specialization in Oncology in 1976 and completed her doctoral degree in Academic Administration in 1981 at the University of Pittsburgh, PA. She came to RPCI from the University of Pittsburgh Cancer Institute (UPCI), where she was Associate Director of all Clinical and Network Programs, and also is Professor Emeritus at the University of Pittsburgh School of Nursing and a Clinical Professor at the University at Buffalo School of Nursing.
Dr. Yasko is responsible for RPCI clinical operations, working in collaboration with the chairpersons and administrators of the Departments of Medicine, Pediatrics, Surgery, Perioperative Services, Anesthesia and Critical Care, Pathology and Laboratory Medicine, Radiation Medicine, Radiology and Dermatology and the Departments of Pharmacy, Therapeutic Services and Patient Access, Infection Control, Clinical Research Services and the Transplant Program. The patient/family experience and effective and efficient clinical processes are her major clinical operations areas of focus.
She has authored seven books and authored or co-authored more than 65 articles in refereed journals, abstracts and book chapters and was the principal investigator of several peer-review funded clinical research studies. She has served as a consultant for many cancer and academic medical centers for issues related to clinical research, practice and operations.
