Biography

A life in medicine is a calling — one that I was lucky enough to have received as a young child through my experience with numerous physicians who cared for of one of my younger brothers. The intellectual challenge of diagnosing and treating patients within the limitations of their overall health appeals to my love of a challenge. In other fields there is a single definitive answer to any problem, but in medicine there are an abundance of possible treatments to go along with an equally diverse set of ailments. Furthermore, in medicine there is always something new to learn, a new medication, or a novel treatment.

As I completed my medical degree at Creighton University in Omaha, Nebraska, I found gynecologic cancer patients to be some of the most intellectually stimulating and my interactions with them were fulfilling on both clinical and emotional levels. After I completed my residency in obstetrics and gynecology at the University of Texas Health Science Center, in San Antonio, Texas, I moved to Buffalo and joined the Roswell Park Cancer Institute to pursue training in the management of gynecologic cancers.

While I complete my fellowship training I am also pursuing a Master’s Degree in Public Health within the college of Epidemiology and Environmental Health at the University of Buffalo. The breadth of education and experience I will receive while earning this degree, in concert with my fellowship training, will allow me to participate in future quality improvement projects on both the surgical and clinical sides of the hospital.

I am a board eligible OB/GYN, a fellow-in-training member of the Society of Gynecologic Oncology and a Member in Training with the American Society of Clinical Oncology.
