Cancer Survivor “Ship” 2012

On Friday, June 22, 2012, Roswell Park cancer patients, survivors and their guests gathered with riders and volunteers in the SurvivorSHIP tent at the first-ever and long-to-be-remembered Ride For Roswell Opening Ceremony.

The tent featured Roswell Park researchers, who were on hand to talk about the latest research that is making a difference for patients today and for years to come. Survivors enjoyed delicious treats, and tested their knowledge and accuracy at several table games—each with a guaranteed prize to serve as a lasting memento of the celebration.

After trying their luck at the games, visitors to the SurvivorSHIP tent mingled with representatives from several Roswell Park programs and departments, including: Adolescent and Young Adults (AYA) with Cancer program, Beads of Courage, Blood and Marrow Transplant (BMT) Program, Carly’s Club, Clinical Nutrition, Esperanza y Vida, Gilda Radner Familial Ovarian Cancer Registry, New York State Smokers’ Quitline, Pediatric and Adult BMT Long-Term Survivorship Programs, Support for People with Oral Head and Neck (SPOHNC), Support For Life, The Witness Project, The Roswell Park Donor Center and Yroswell.
