About Elizabeth Bouchard

Biography:

Dr. Elizabeth Bouchard is a Professor of Oncology in the Department of Cancer Prevention and Control and joined the Institute’s faculty in 2016. Dr. Bouchard is a sociologist whose research focuses on understanding how social context shapes experiences navigating cancer care and the mechanisms that contribute to inequalities in cancer treatment and outcomes. One primary focus of Dr. Bouchard’s research is examining the mechanisms underlying the robust association between socioeconomic status and cancer outcomes. Her research examines how social context influences patient-provider interactions, treatment adherence, cancer caregiving, and cancer-related stress. Dr. Bouchard also examines the role of social networks and social support in shaping access to health-related resources, health care navigation, and cancer outcomes.

Dr. Bouchard also serves as Roswell Park’s Senior Vice President and Associate Director for Community Outreach and Engagement. Our Office of Community Outreach and Engagement is driven by a mission to reduce the cancer burden in Western New York, with a focus on eliminating cancer disparities.
