In Western New York, as in other areas of the country, the COVID-19 pandemic continues to cause much uncertainty as to when we will be able to safely travel and gather for events. For this reason, Roswell Park Comprehensive Cancer Center and The American Association of Medical Dosimetrists regret to announce the cancelation of ROC Niagara 2020 that was to be held September 10-12 in Niagara Falls, NY.
The cancelation is necessary to protect the health and safety of our professional colleagues and is in compliance with guidance from our public officials. While we explored all alternative options to avoid canceling this important event, we feel all virtual options would not provide the same value to our attendees as the in-person interactions and networking that the meeting provides.
It is our intention to hold this meeting next year on our usual weekend in September — September 9-11, 2021. We hope to celebrate our 20th meeting, and continue our tradition of gathering together to learn, socialize and share ideas together in person.
In the interim, we suggest that you consider participating in the AAMD’s Annual Meeting, which will be held virtually in July. This meeting will be a valuable and cost-effective way of obtaining educational credits (MDCB and ARRT) and remaining informed about the latest developments in our field. We would like to specifically invite our Radiation Therapist colleagues to participate, as we especially value the collaborative spirit nurtured by the ROC Niagara meetings.
Information about the AAMD’s Annual Meeting can be found on the AAMD’s website at: www.medicaldosimetry.org
We look forward to seeing you next year in beautiful Niagara Falls, NY.
Until then, stay healthy and safe.
